Census Bureau. To quote their summary:
This presentation has been designed to explain what Summary File 1 is, what data will be
available, the tabulations and repeating tabulations, and the geographic hierarchy. It addresses the 6 major
race groups and detailed race groups (American Indian and Alaska Native, etc.).

dp1_2k: Demographic
Profile 1 Using Data from SF1, 2000 Census -- One page basic data reports
for almost any geographic unit in the state of Missouri and Other U.S. Geographies. Most reports
contain links to dp1_2kt, a Demographic Trend Report 1990-2000

Geographic
Comparison Reports. The dp1_2k profile reports (previous item) give
you a set of tables with data about a single geographic area. If
you prefer reports that show most (in some cases all) of the data from
just one of those tables but for all geographic areas of a certain type
within a certain geographic universe, then these reports will be of interest.
These represent a work in progress. To data we have "gcr"s for all
counties in Missouri, and some experimental ones for various sub-county
geography for Boone County. Look for a great expansion in the selection
available in the near future.

Geographic Areas Linked to PB Map Series. This is a series of Missouri
county level html documents containing links from census geographic units to the
Census Bureau's PDF format online maps.

Missouri
Detailed Demographic Profiles
. These very detailed reports are based
on SF1 data for governmental units (the state, counties and places of at
least 2500 population). They were created using code developed by
the national State Data Center program. Reports for non-Missouri
geography should be coming soon.

The data that is used to create the reports are stored
in SAS(r) data sets that can be accessed by the uexplore application
running on the new mcdc2 box. Use the URL http://mcdc2.missouri.edu/cgi-bin/uexplore?/pub/data@secure
to get to the main data menu on mcdc2. Select the directories sf12000x
to see the "SF1 2000 standard extract" data sets directory, and sf12000
to see the (really big) complete SF1 2000 data sets. The Readme.html
files for these two directories are excellent starting points for anyone
wanting to use these data.

Holdings.
The previous link to our data archive is the most reliable means to determine
just what data the MCDC currently has in its SF1 collection. As of
Aug. 2001 we had processed data only for the states Missouri, Illinois,
Kansas, Maryland and Delaware. It is very possible that at some point
later this year we may find the time to retrieve and convert data for more
or possibly all states, and it is very likely that we'll create some national
datasets at some higher levels of geography. You can, of course,
get access to all sf1 from the Census Bureau's Census
2000 Datasets page.

Complete Technical
Documentation. This is the Census Bureau's definitive 600+ page manual
broken down into smaller pieces (all Adobe pdf files) by the MCDC.

The sf1 data are not provided (from the Census Bureau)
at the School District level on SF1. But the MCDC has aggregated the data
to MO School Districts. These data can be viewed in the dp1_2k reports
(see above) or you can access the data files (along with all the standard
summaries) using the Uexplore
Application . Note particularly the files beginning with "moschl".
Similarly, we have aggregated the data to create summaries for state
legislative districts. See the files with names beginning with "mosenate"
and "mohouse."
