Missouri Census Data Center

Population Projections for Missouri and the U.S.

Population projections are the numerical outcome of particular sets of assumptions about future population trends. Projected data include total population and demographic characteristics such as age and sex. Assumptions are made about future fertility, mortaility and migration.

  • Note that these Missouri projections were done circa 2008 and thus do NOT incorporate the results of the 2010 census. When and if we may see revised projections that do incorporate those results is not known at this time.

  • Missouri Population Projections By County, Age, and Sex: 2000 to 2030 (on the Office of Administration web site)

  • Data Sets containing MO Population Projections for 2010-2030 (via uexplore/Dexter)

  • Excel files containing MO Population Projections for 2010-2030 These include population pyramid charts.

  • U.S. National and State Population Projections (U.S. Census Bureau. It appears that the Bureau is no longer doing state-level projections.) However, the Cooper Center at the U of Virginia now offers national and state level projections with detail by age and sex, and by race/ethnicity. These have been generating using the results of the 2010 census and go through 2040.
