One of the most important datasets that MCDC’s partnerĀ MSDIS (Missouri Spatial Data Information Service) maintains is a series of interactive maps of the journey that Meriwether Lewis and William Clark took through Missouri in 1804 as the first leg of their now famous expedition to the Pacific Northwest.
For this month’s story map, we’re starting to look at the Lewis and Clark data in the context of modern mapping and new aerial photography collected in 2023 and 2024. This is just a small preview of the first of several new maps that MCDC and MSDIS will publish as we find new uses for this unique data.
Missouri Census Data Center partners with MSDIS on mapping and data projects. MSDIS is a spatial data retrieval and archival system offering many mapping resources, primarily focused on the state of Missouri.
